Earlier this year, we asked our community which vehicles they believe are destined for future classic status. From iconic ‘90s heroes to newer models with serious character, the responses were wide-ranging – and full of personality. Here's what you told us.

'90s Legends Stand Tall
One era stood out above the rest – the 1990s. It seems many of you think this decade is ripe for future classics, with a surge in love for Japanese and German performance cars alike.
Topping the list were models like the Mazda RX-7, BMW E30, and the Nissan 300ZX – cars that combine retro looks with serious driving appeal. You also called out the Toyota MR2, Honda S2000 and Mitsubishi Evo, as well as quirky favorites like the VW Corrado and Peugeot 205 GTi.
The Fast and the Future
Japanese sports cars in particular received a huge amount of love. The Toyota Supra Mk4 was a regular mention, alongside the Datsun 240Z and various generations of the Nissan Skyline. It’s clear the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) influence is strong, with many of these models now commanding cult status – and higher price tags to match.

Understated Future Classics
You also had a soft spot for cars that aren’t (yet) headline-grabbers. Models like the Volvo 240, Citroën XM, and Ford Puma made the list, showing there’s appreciation for design, reliability, and charm over outright speed.
Others, like the Rover 75 and Saab 900 Turbo, reflect a growing nostalgia for the everyday cars that defined previous generations – the ones that were once everywhere and are now vanishing from our roads.
Newer Models With Classic Potential
It wasn’t all retro. A number of respondents flagged newer vehicles as potential future classics. The Fiat 500 Abarth, Tesla Model S, Jaguar F-Type, and BMW i8 were all cited as examples of cars that could one day be seen as design icons or turning points in automotive history.

Your thoughts? The Range Rover Evoque, Mini GP and even the humble Ford Fiesta ST might be future collector favorites sooner than you think.
Where Passion Meets Preservation
What’s clear from your answers is just how much passion drives the classic car world – and how ideas of what makes a car ‘classic’ are always evolving. For some, it’s about rarity. For others, it’s design, innovation, or a connection to youth and freedom.
At DRIVESHARE, we love seeing the range of vehicles on the platform and can’t wait to welcome more future classics to the road – and the community.
