As we head into the colder months, some owners take their cars off the road for storage, maintenance or a simple winter break. That’s completely normal on DRIVESHARE, but it’s important that your listing reflects it.
When availability isn’t updated, it often leads to unanswered requests or last-minute cancellations, which isn’t ideal for renters. With this in mind, here's a quick guide to walk you through how to block off dates or temporarily deactivate your listing so everything runs smoothly through the winter.
Blocking off winter dates
If you’re planning to store your car for a few weeks or months, the easiest option is to block off the dates on your calendar. This keeps your listing visible in search results and allows guests to contact you about bookings next spring or for future events.
To update your calendar:
- Log in at driveshare.com and open the drop-down menu in the top right corner of the homepage (lower right for mobile app users).
- Select My collection, then Vehicles.
- Choose the car you want to update.
- Go to Pricing and availability.
- Use the calendar to block out the dates your car won’t be available.
This is the best option if your car is only unavailable for a set period of time.
Temporarily deactivating your listing
If your car will be fully off the platform for the season, you can deactivate the listing instead. To do this:
- Select your vehicle in My collection
- Switch the status to Inactive
For mobile app users, click on the ellipsis on the top, right and then select Settings from the dropdown menu. Your listing will stop appearing in search results until you reactivate it. To bring it back in the spring, repeat the steps and change the status to Active.
Why this matters
Updating availability helps potential guests plan ahead and prevents booking requests going unanswered. It also improves the experience for owners by reducing cancellations and keeping your response rate strong.
