Tell us about Matilda
My mother proudly drove this vehicle all her adult life. She purchased Matilda back in 1968 and the paintwork has never been touched.
I have fond memories of being driven around in it and have inherited it. She kept it in good nick and the bodywork is as new. All I've done is had the interior refurbished in green leather upholstery.
What do you love about hosting weddings with her?
I love being able to make each couple’s wedding day a little more personal and memorable. Before every wedding booking, I ask the couple for a Spotify playlist so I can play their chosen songs during the journey.
I also handpick flowers from my garden to create a display for the back of the car, and I decorate Matilda in the couple’s chosen colours. I always make sure I arrive early and smartly dressed in a suit and chauffeur’s hat, so everything is ready when the couple arrives.
What do your guests say?
It’s always lovely to hear how much Matilda means to couples and their guests. One bride said: “It had always been a childhood dream of mine to go to my wedding in a Morris Minor. David made my dream come true with Matilda. He took some beautiful photos and a short video. It was perfect.”
And another couple commented: “He handpicked flowers from his garden to create a beautiful display for the back of the car and tailor arranged the music for the drive. Matilda is absolutely beautiful and made my wedding entrance to the venue extremely special.”
Why is Matilda so special?
It means a great deal to me, especially knowing that Matilda has been part of my family for so long. As she belonged to my mother and has so many memories attached to her, being able to give other people happy memories with her is very special.
