How did your love of classic cars begin?
We have been lifelong lovers of classic cars. Cary started with a hand-me-down car from his mom and it began from there. He built, tore down and built again, even took up doing his own painting. Everything from VWs to Model As.
My first car was a 1960 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. I was a low rider and thought this big, long and low car was the cat's meow. My favorite of all time was my '57 Chevy 210. I had it custom painted and had artwork put on the doors to advertise my little restaurant, Chevy's Diner. Everyone in town knew that car.
Tell us about Bluebird
Bluebird is a stunning all-original 1966 Ford Thunderbird: sapphire blue paint, white leather interior, fully automatic and all electric. She has a rare 428 cubic inch motor and can be used as a four-seater or with the Roadster Cover for a sleek, sporty look.
She has won trophies and awards at some big car shows, been used for filming and advertising, and has even been used to replicate the car from the movie Thelma and Louise for commercials and photo shoots. We love taking her out for a cruise... she turns heads everywhere we go.
What does the classic car community mean to you?
Today we belong to a Classic Car Enthusiast Club, The Drifters, and participate in many local car shows and cruises. We have owned and loved so many cars throughout our lives — and kicked ourselves for selling quite a few of them. This community keeps that passion alive.
