Last week, the DRIVESHARE team headed to Albuquerque for one of those days that reminds us why the platform exists. Three classic cars, three groups of Booking.com competition winners, and the full stretch of Route 66 from Albuquerque to Santa Fe waiting ahead of them.

This was the big moment for our partnership experience with Booking.com, celebrating 100 years of one of America's most legendary highways. Chuck Stubbings of Beach Gypsy Classics, one of DRIVESHARE's top Pro Owners, was also on the ground to help make the event happen.

Three iconic cars

A classic Ford Thunderbird carried the first group of winners on their way: two generations sharing the front seat of an American icon. The kind of trip that becomes a story you tell for the rest of your life.

Then there was Steve's 1962 VW Bus. A young couple and their child, setting off down Route 66 in a turquoise and white split-window bus with the safari windows open. There is something about a classic VW Bus that makes everyone around it smile, and watching this little family head out onto the open road was exactly that kind of moment.

And finally, a DeLorean, owned by another star DRIVESHARE owner, Heather Gardner from Monterey Touring Vehicles. Two friends, an open highway, and a car that makes every drive feel like time travel. If you are going to mark the 100th anniversary of Route 66, doing it in a DeLorean is about as fitting as it gets.

Not your average day at the office

Our CEO Kent and COO Ben were on the ground with Cody from our US team, overseeing the photoshoot before each group set off, and by all accounts it was a very different kind of day at the office. Three cars lined up, owners ready, winners thrilled... the kind of scene that is hard to stage and impossible to forget.

Classic cars do something to people. They slow things down and make the journey feel special. Put the right car on the right road with the right people, and you get something that goes well beyond a road trip.

Why this matters

Route 66 turns 100 this year, and this partnership with Booking.com felt like exactly the right way to mark it. Not a formal celebration, but real people in extraordinary cars heading out on one of the world's most iconic roads.

That is what DRIVESHARE is built around. The car becomes part of the memory, and in cases like these, the main event.

For our owners, it is also a reminder of what listing on DRIVESHARE can open up: partnerships, productions, experiences and audiences that simply would not be reachable otherwise...
