As the colder months arrive, some owners take their cars off the road for storage, maintenance or a well-earned winter break. That is completely normal on DRIVESHARE, but it is important that your listing reflects it.
When availability is not kept up to date, it can lead to unanswered booking requests or last-minute cancellations, which is frustrating for everyone. Here is a quick guide to help you stay on top of it before the season changes.
Blocking off dates
If you are planning to store your car for a few weeks or months, the simplest option is to block off the relevant dates on your calendar. This keeps your listing visible in search results and allows renters to contact you about future bookings.
To update your calendar on driveshare.com:
- Log in at driveshare.com and open the drop-down menu in the top right corner of the homepage (lower right for mobile app users).
- Select My collection, then Vehicles.
- Choose the car you want to update.
- Go to Pricing and availability.
- Use the calendar to block out the dates your car will not be available.
This is the best option if your car is only off the road for a set period.
Temporarily deactivating your listing
If your car will be fully off the platform for the season, you can deactivate the listing instead.
- Select your vehicle in My collection
- Switch the status to Inactive
Mobile app users: tap the ellipsis at the top right and select Settings from the dropdown. Your listing will stop appearing in search results until you reactivate it. When you are ready to come back in the spring, repeat the steps and switch the status back to Active.
Why it matters
Keeping your availability accurate helps renters plan ahead and avoids requests going unanswered. It also keeps your response rate strong, which affects how your listing performs in search.
