In our latest blog post, we hear from one of our passionate owners who has been sharing the joy of classic cars with others. Meet Fabian Alefeld from Austin, Texas...
What made you decide to list your car?
We got married in 2021 and used our Triumph as our getaway car. We had so much fun that we decided to share the joy and offer our cars as rentals for special occasions. That’s how we came across DRIVESHARE, and it felt like the perfect platform to connect with others who share our passion.
How many cars do you own, and how did you come to own them?
We own two classic beauties: a 1960 Triumph TR3 and a 1952 MG TD. I am German, and my dad purchased the Triumph in San Francisco back in 1989, then shipped it over to Germany. He gifted me that car in 2016. After I moved to Austin, I decided to bring the car back to the US in 2021.
Do you have any fun anecdotes about your cars?
I remember when I was 15, I snuck into the garage, hopped into the Triumph, and dreamt about driving that car one day. Now, that dream has come true, and I get to share that joy with others.
What is your experience of doing a booking through DRIVESHARE?
We focus on making every booking an experience. We take our time to do a test drive with our renters to make sure they feel comfortable driving a 60-year-old car. And we try to accommodate special wishes—especially when it comes to weddings, we know how stressful they can be.
What is your favorite thing about the DRIVESHARE platform?
I really like the ease of use for both us and our renters. It makes the whole process smooth and enjoyable, allowing us to focus on sharing the love for these incredible cars.
Could you share with us how you developed your passion for classic cars?
I grew up working on our Triumph with my dad. I’ve always loved the simplicity of classic cars. It’s just you and the car, no bells and whistles. These vehicles have a soul, and there’s nothing quite like the feeling of driving them.
