We’re excited to introduce David, a DRIVESHARE Pro Owner based in Allen, Texas, who shares his 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner. With its Colonial White over Raven Black finish, Flowmaster exhaust, and unmistakable 50s flair, this convertible always turns heads...
How did you come across your 1956 Ford Sunliner?
My wife was very concerned that I had no outside interests and was preparing to retire from full-time employment in 2019. While I have always been a car guy, I had never purchased an old car – but when she made the suggestion to buy something to play with and enjoy, I recognized the opportunity. We found a Colonial White over Raven Black convertible that we both liked, especially since the previous owner had invested in the restoration.

What makes this car so special to you?
As a little boy, I remember my sister’s 1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria and the trips we took in it with my older brothers. This car brings back those memories. The colours, the convertible top, and the tuned exhaust all attract attention. My wife needed a little convincing to join me on a five-day road rally that started and ended in Texarkana and visited surrounding states in May of 2024 – but now that we’ve joined AACA, we’ll be doing more trips together.
What kind of experiences have you had with the Sunliner?
We’ve especially enjoyed making the convertible available for weddings and special events. The car was built in Ford's Dallas, Texas plant, and all three previous owners lived here in North Texas. With new OEM-size radial construction tires and new rims, plus a rebuilt steering gearbox and transmission, the ride and handling have improved, and it’s proven dependable.

What made you decide to list the car on DRIVESHARE?
It’s easy to store and easy to drive often, and we realised it could bring joy to others as well. Having made some reliability improvements, we felt confident listing it. DRIVESHARE made it easy to get started.
What do you love most about being a DRIVESHARE owner?
Seeing the car used for special occasions like weddings or photo shoots is rewarding. The car’s 292 V8 with 4-barrel carburettor and Flowmaster exhaust provide a soft rumble, and it’s fun to share that experience.

What’s next for you and your Sunliner?
We’ll keep sharing it for events and plan to join more AACA trips. It’s been a great way to spend time together and enjoy the car we care for.
